• A wild, violent, unlawful disturbance or breach of the peace by an assamblage of persons (more thatn three) possessing a common intent to breach the peace in a tumultuous manner.
While a riot is the unlawful commission of a disturbance by a group assembling for that purpose, it should be distinguished from unlawful assembly which is an illegal gathering which may or may not culminate in a riot. Disturbance, on the other hand, refers to an act that causes interference with public peace or with another’s lawful activities, usually without rising to the level of being tumultuous.
