The crime of conspiracy in common law countries is defined and treated as a crime separate and apart from the crime that the conspirators are accused of committing or attempting. In contrast, civil law Hispanic countries usually consider the equivalent crime of acuerdo para cometer un delito as either an element of the crime being committed or an aggravating circumstance.
